Self-Esteem is how you think of yourself.  It can be bad, good, high or low.  Knowing whether it's either helps the individual to go in the direction that they are going.   Having positive self-esteem is the best thou, because you can do positive things with your life whether is working or going to school etc.

Social media lawsuits is indeed not a good thing.  You have to be very careful of what you say or place about someone else.  However, this new space has also opened up deep legal issues in the areas of privacy, intellectual property, identity theft, defamation, and self-incrimination to users online.
